NEW ORLEANS, LA - June 13, 2011 - Emmy winning documentary All Over But to Cry will be featured on The Documentary Channel on June 27 at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. EST. The date marks 54 years since Hurricane Audrey smashed into the Cajun communities of southwest Louisiana, bringing a massive tidal wave and leaving more than 500 people dead.

A category 4 storm, Hurricane Audrey remains the strongest June hurricane on record. All Over But To Cry is an intimate and stunning first-hand account from survivors who describe clinging to trees and rooftops, floating on a refrigerator through the Gulf, and watching loved ones drown.

The Documentary Channel (DOC) is the USA's first television channel exclusively devoted to airing documentary films. DOC seeks out and showcases independent, cutting-edge and international nonfiction
programming usually only seen in film festivals. DOC reaches 25 million viewers on Direct TV and DISH network.

All Over But to Cry will air again on The Documentary Channel on July 11 at 8 p.m. and July 27 at 6:30 p.m. EST.

Jennifer John Block and Jake Springfield spent 2-years producing the film, which was completed in May 2009. The documentary started as an oral history project for the Lake Charles-based National Hurricane Museum and Science Center.

All Over But to Cry recently won an Emmy award after airing on Louisiana Public Broadcasting. The film also won 2010 Humanities Documentary Film of the Year from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities.

Times-Picayune Movie Critic Mike Scott praised All Over But to Cry, calling it "powerful, gripping stuff, a story worthy of Hollywood-and can't miss cinema for local residents." Scott ranked the film among the "10 Great Docs from 2009," which included national and international films.

All Over But To Cry was produced by Fresh Media, a New Orleans-based production company (www.getfreshmedia.com), in association with the National Hurricane Museum and Science Center (www.nhmsc.com), a derivative of the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road, and funded in part by a grant from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities.

Jennifer John Block also produced Reconstructing Creole (2007), which won Best Documentary Feature at the Hollywood DV Film Festival and Humanities Documentary of the Year from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities.

Block is President of Fresh Media and an Adjunct Professor at Tulane University. Jake Springfield is an award-winning Director of Photography and owner of PeopleMover, a New Orleans-based production house. His work includes music videos for Juvenile and Big Freedia as well
as commercials and feature films.
