Friends of the Calcasieu Parish Historical and Preservation Society (CHAPS) invite runners (and walkers) to enter the New Year's Resolution 5K run on Saturday, Jan. 7, at 8 a.m. in front of the DeQuincy Railroad Museum.

If you're resolving to beat your last year's time, add exercise to your schedule, get out more , meet people or help you community! A $25 fee gets you in the race and a specially-designed T-shirt. Registration forms are available at City Hall, DeQuincy Police Station and on Facebook and can be sent in right away or on the day of the race if you get there by 7:30 a.m.

Friends of CHAPS is a non-profit organization that supports the efforts of the DeQuincy Historic District Committee.
