BP Oil Spill
There are no fishing closures in Southwest Louisiana.
Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana in Calcasieu Parish is currently not under immediate threat of oil entering its waters or Cameron Parish along the Gulf of Mexico, both home to the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road. Attractions, recreation, fishing, crabbing, shelling and nature photography are still viable and thriving along the Creole Nature Trail. You can experience newly refurbished exhibits and a driving trail at the Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge as well as the Wetland Walkway and Blue Goose Trail at the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge, where you can spot alligators and other wildlife while walking through the marsh on a paved walkway.
Fishing is in abundance in Southwest Louisiana. Redfish, flounder and speckled trout are biting these days and blue crabs are plentiful. To book your summer trip with one of our local guides, click here.
