Cajun Navy Relief Hosts the 2nd Annual Search and Rescue Games

WESTLAKE, La. (March 29, 2019)— Cajun Navy Relief is hosting the 2nd annual Search and Rescue (SAR) Games. The event will take place from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., on Saturday, April 6 at the Kilowatt Club, located at 3500 Houston River Road, Westlake, LA.

The purpose of the SAR Games is to recruit new Cajun Navy Relief volunteers and to introduce them to the tools used while conducting rescues, as well as providing them with technical rescue training by boat.

The event is framed as a friendly competition to encourage urgency in rescue. The competition will consist of 3 divisions of boaters who will navigate the Calcasieu River in search of specific targets placed along the river. The competition begins at 11 a.m., and the results will be tabulated at 4 p.m. The competition will be followed immediately by an awards banquet at 5 p.m.

“Cajun Navy Relief is grateful for the support we have received during ever disaster we deployed. We are building relationships with volunteers, members of our communities, local businesses, and first responders as partners to assist each other in times of crisis. The quest for learning new skills, team work, efficiency, effectiveness, and passing a good time is an important part of who we are.  Consider what you can do to participate with us in whatever capacity possible.  Help us as we prepare for next hurricane season and embrace a philosophy of neighbors helping neighbors in a time of need,” said Shawn Boudreaux, Cajun Navy Relief president.

The Cajun Navy Relief Search and Rescue Games are sponsored by Entergy, Raising Canes, Elite Communications, Impact Northwest, Wrap-It NOLA, Be Creative, Orleans Coffee, Noggin, Big Country Framing, and DSLD Homes. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
