Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point - Free Event
Celebrating National Get Outdoors Day, June 9

SULPHUR, LA (May 31, 2018) - National Get Outdoors Day is an annual event to encourage healthy, active outdoor fun. Jumping into the spirit of National Get Outdoors Day, Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point, 2740 Ruth St., is hosting a special celebration on Saturday, June 9, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

“The idea behind National Get Outdoors Day is to encourage everyone, especially kids and families to take advantage of outdoor adventures to have fun and be healthy. That’s what the Creole Nature Trail is all about, and Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point is the perfect launching pad for everyone to learn about the great outdoors before experiencing it for themselves,” said Shanna Landry, director of administration & satellite office of the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau (LC/SWLA CVB).

Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point includes interactive exhibits featuring the outdoors, culture, cuisine and music of Southwest Louisiana. The free event and day celebration will include baby alligators, displays from Friends of the Southwest Louisiana National Wildlife Refuges & Wetlands, photos with Gumbeaux Gator who will be celebrating his 40th birthday, coloring books and more.

Also on display will be the top 25 entries of the Explore Nature Art Contest. This art contest was open to all K-8th-grade students in Calcasieu and Cameron parishes to encourage outdoor fun.

The Creole Nature Trail is a 180-mile drive which winds through the area’s prairies and marshes, and the attractions along the way include wildlife refuges, walking trails, Gulf beaches, and opportunities for viewing alligators, birds, and wildlife in their natural habitat.

Regular hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. For more information, log onto
