Get Social-Free Social Media Seminar

LAKE CHARLES, La. (July 15, 2013)-The Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau presents "Get Social" Wednesday, August 14, at the Lake Charles Civic Center Contraband Room. It is a free social media, interactive seminar for partners in tourism to help further their respective markets in the new digital age.

Theresa Overby, the content director for Miles Media and former director of communications for Visit Baton Rouge, will be the guest speaker. Overby has spent the past 13 years cultivating her passion for the tourism industry, and she has served as a social media consultant for the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau on a number of successful campaigns. She will share case studies and practical application advice for leveraging social media to its fullest potential.

There will be two sessions offered: a beginner's session from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and an advanced session from 1-4 p.m.

In the beginner's session, attendees will learn the basics to get started on today's most popular social media networks. This session will cover fundamentals from setup to search and creating a strategy.

The advanced session will offer tips to increase engagement and strengthen messages on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest. Attendees will be able to participate in discussion with locals and learn about opportunities to leverage their relationship with Visit Lake Charles to amplify their message.

Sign up for either session by e-mailing or calling Amos Orr at 337-436-9588.
