Lake Charles Civic Ballet (LCCB) – Assemblé 2019: A Dance Down Memory Lane
Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Event
LAKE CHARLES, La. (Feb. 28, 2019)— For the fourth consecutive year, the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) honored Lake Charles Civic Ballet’s Assemblé as a 2019 Top 20 Event for the month of March.
Celebrating 50 years, Lake Charles Civic Ballet (LCCB) and the Southwest Louisiana arts community will present Assemblé 2019 - A Dance Down Memory Lane, March 23-24, at the Lake Charles Civic Center, 900 Lakeshore Dr. Excerpts from select pieces that were originally created and performed in Southwest Louisiana over the past 50 years will be performed, including an excerpt from Alice in Wonderland (Assemblé 2017), Hungarian Dances (choreographed by LCCB founding member Libby Lovejoy), and the all-time favorite, Louisiana Saturday Night, accompanied on-stage by local Cajun band Chris Miller & Bayou Roots.
This year's program will cover the 50 years of creativity and a variety of dance forms, all of which will be a collaboration of numerous community members, helping to encompass a variety of dance, theatre and music styles including a classical, jazz, contemporary and more. Tickets are available at the Lake Charles Civic Center box office or through Ticketmaster.
The Southwest Louisiana Convention and Visitors Bureau is a member of STS, an organization that promotes travel to and within the southeastern part of the United States. The bureau nominates all area fairs, festivals and events quarterly. The STS Top 20 Events marketing program highlights the “best of the best” from submitted entries.
Events are selected from each of the following STS member states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. The Top 20 Events publication is sent to over 1,600 newspapers, magazines, radio stations, TV stations, AAA publications and others. The combined circulation of organizations using the publication is well into the millions. Therefore, the potential media coverage of these events has made the Top 20 Events list a coveted honor.
