SULPHUR, La. (Dec. 11, 2017)—The first annual mini Christmas tree decorating contest winners were announced at noon on Saturday, December 9, at the Brimstone/Henning Cultural Center, 923 S. Ruth St.
The rules of the contest were that contestants could decorate their trees in any way they liked in order to project their creativity and reflect their own version of the Christmas spirit. This year, entries highlighted themes such as the outdoors, Santa’s workshop, Louisiana seafood and more.
The third-place winner taking home the white ribbon and $15, was Sher Nunley with her “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” themed tree. Second-place, receiving the red ribbon and $25 prize was Will Daigle and his “Joyeux Noël” themed tree.
The first-place winner taking home the blue ribbon and grand prize of $50 was Pam East with her “Louisiana seafood boil” decorated tree. Pam’s tree was accented with crawfish ornaments, Tony Chachere’s seasoning packets, red potatoes and corn cobs.
Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point and the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau partnered with the Brimstone Museum Complex and the City of Sulphur to present the first annual Mini Christmas Tree Decorating Contest.
Trees will remain on display at the Brimstone/Henning Cultural Center until Tuesday, December 26.
