National Tourism Week Celebrates
LAKE CHARLES, La. (May 3, 2018) – During National Tourism Week, May 5 – 13, the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau will celebrate Children’s Day on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the tourist bureau, 1205 N. Lakeshore Drive.
Children’s Day is a showcase of fun things for families to see and do in Southwest Louisiana. Children and their parents are invited to the tourist bureau for a variety of games, activities, exhibits and more. Gumbeaux Gator, Southwest Louisiana’s Goodwill Ambassador, will be on site along with refreshments and pizza from Papa John’s.
Groups with displays and activities include the Lake Charles Fire Department, Children’s Museum, Niche Creative Studio, Louisiana Coral Foundation, Bayou Games, Hobo Hotel for Cats, Karate for Kids, the Calcasieu Parish Library, the City of Lake Charles, Habibi Shriner Clowns, Harry the Magician, Master Choi’s Taekwon Do, Friends of Southwest Louisiana National Wildlife Refuges, Cameron Prairie Wildlife Refuge, Club Tabby, Sensory Slime Time, F.B. Bulber Youth Orchestra, Bayou Writers Group and The Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Along with our participating attractions, Children’s Day goes hand in hand with celebrating the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road, saluting the wonderful scenic drive and unusual flora and fauna found along the trail. Representatives from the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road and Friends of the Southwest Louisiana National Wildlife Refuges will be at the bureau to answer questions.
