LAKE CHARLES, La. (May 2, 2019)—National Travel & Tourism Week is celebrated in May each year across the country to showcase the value and economic impact of the tourism industry on local communities. The Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau (LC/SWLA CVB), chose a new approach to communicating how tourism supports initiatives in Calcasieu Parish with the Tourism Works Ambassador Campaign.
“The tourism industry impacts almost every aspect of the economy and community. It’s always been a challenge to effectively communicate the various ways that tourism works for the parish in a campaign that has one message. This year, the bureau’s creative team established a new approach by asking tourism ambassadors to explain how tourism impacts their lives, careers or businesses through working with the bureau, and the ambassadors posted their stories on social media. Everyone had their own way of telling their unique story, and it truly has been rewarding to see their experiences come to life in their videos,” said Angie Manning, communications director at the LC/SWLA CVB.
Southwest Louisiana’s tourism ambassadors represent many aspects of the area from musicians, business owners, festival and event planners, officials, city employees, cultural ambassadors, museum directors, artists, teachers, media professionals, historians to wildlife specialists.
The LC/SWLA CVB would like to thank all the ambassadors for their commitment to telling their stories. The ambassadors are listed in the order of their posting dates, and some are yet to be shared online: Katie Harrington, Lindsey Janies, Rusty Metoyer, Allyson Montgomery, Brady Renard, Eric Avery, Nora Popillion, John Bridges, Adley Cormier, Chef Lyle Broussard, Adam Fontenot, Nathaniel Allured, Nick Zaver, Mayor Mike Danahay, Thom Trahan, Elizabeth McLaughlin, Sean Ardoin, Mayor Nic Hunter, John O’Donnell, Dave Evans, Mickey Smith, Jr., Nick Villaume, Jay Ecker, Krickett Racca, Bobby Jordan and Matt Young.
