Hook & Barrel Magazine is proud to present the Salty Catch Trout Shootout & Festival held at the Lake Charles Civic Center's amphitheater grounds. The tournament and festival will be held on Saturday, June 5, in partnership with Louisiana Seafood, and the event is expected to draw more than 3,000 people. In addition to the fishing tournament, the event features a concert with American Idol winner, Laine Hardy, a Southwest Louisiana Cornhole Association tournament as well as food, general concessions, and professional vendors on site throughout the day.
“After a pandemic and two hurricanes, we are very excited to bring something fun to Lake Charles. We invite everyone to come out to this fun-filled day for the entire family," said Crystal LaFosse, festival coordinator.
The trout shootout begins at 5:30 a.m. with scales closing at 1:30 p.m. and awards ceremony at 2 p.m. Beginning at 10 a.m., the community is invited to watch anglers try their luck at winning first place of $1,000 for the biggest speckled trout as part of the overall cash and prizes exceeding $10,000 for other placing fish.
Event-goers are invited to browse local offerings from participants such as Henderson Implements, Lake Charles Tackle, BNB Detailing, Hurricane Off-road, Bayou Surface Drive, Kicks 96, Navarre Auto Group, Big South Inflatables, Fish on Tackle, Hook & Barrel, Penn, and many others.
The crowning jewel of the event will be a concert beginning at 3 p.m. when Louisiana native and American Idol winner, Laine Hardy, takes the stage. Tickets for the concert are $22 for general admission and $155 for VIP tickets. Proceeds from the sale of VIP tickets as well as the sale of generously donated seafood from Louisiana Seafood will directly go back to Cajun Navy Ground Force, lending aid to those devastated by the most recent floods to hit the region.
Additionally, the Southwest Louisiana Cornhole Association will hold a tournament on the Civic Center grounds during the festival. Registration starts at 9 a.m., and the tournament begins at 10 a.m.
