Sign Up for the 2012 Southwest Louisiana District Senior Games
LAKE CHARLES, La. (February 7, 2012)-The Southwest Louisiana District Senior Games will be held March 10-24 at various recreational complexes around Southwest Louisiana.
The SWLA District Senior Games is a sports program designed to promote physical fitness and active involvement for individuals 50 and older. The games encourage older individuals to improve their quality of life by being physically active, which also promotes wellness awareness.
Below is a schedule of the events taking place:

March 16 Opening Ceremonies & Competitive Events - McNeese Recreation Complex swimming
March 17 Track & Field - McNeese State University Track
March 19 Golf - Frasch Park, Sulphur
March 20 Bean Bag Baseball - McNeese Recreation Complex
March 22 Bowling - Petro Bowl, Lake Charles
March 24 Archery - Carlyss Park, Carlyss
"Everyone is welcome to come out and cheer for family and friends. If you have not participated in our games, please join us for the opening ceremonies and recreational sports or come out to the track on Saturday, March 17, and enjoy the festivities," said Adele Mart, Senior Games District Coordinator.
There are a variety of additional sporting events including horseshoes, table tennis, shuffleboard, softball accuracy, a spelling contest, basketball free throw, dance competition, billiards, and many more.
The entry fee is $15 for three sports and $2 for every additional sport. Participants must be at least 50 years of age by December 31, 2012. The deadline to enter is February 17. Registration forms may be found at www.visitlakecharles.org/events.
