Southwest Louisiana Hot Air Balloon Festival

LAKE CHARLES, La. (February 21, 2019)— The Southwest Louisiana Hot Air Balloon Festival, a new event coming to the Lake Charles area, will take place Friday – Saturday, July 19 – 20 from 3 – 11 p.m. at Chennault International Airport located at 3650 Sen. J. Bennett Johnston Avenue.

“In Shreveport, we have watched with excitement as thousands of families have come out to experience the festival,” said Brandon Beard, organizer of the balloon festival. “We have been looking for a great city to introduce a balloon festival to, and we have officially landed one of the best cities in the state.”

The two-night festival will consist of live music, food, dancing, family-friendly entertainment, fireworks, and hot air balloons! Friday night will be a Faith & Family Night with local, regional, and national artists performing. Saturday’s festivities will include a barbecue competition, VIP beer tasting, and more live music!  Both nights of the festival conclude with a brilliant firework spectacle.

“Not only will this festival be a great event for families, we would love to weave in an opportunity to teach our students about the history and origins of manned flight,” said Chennault International Airport Executive Director, Kevin Melton. “With all that this event has to offer, we look forward to seeing a large crowd from our community to join in on the fun and attend this first of potentially many more balloon festivals in the future.”

General admission tickets are free while supplies last at participating sponsor locations which will be announced on the website and Facebook page as the event approaches.  General admission tickets are also available on the website for $15.  Tickets are available to first responders, military personnel, and teachers for $10. VIP passes are also available for purchase.
