The American Idol Media Results Are In!

LAKE CHARLES, La. (June 11, 2012)-The American Idol finale is over, but the eleventh season brought overwhelming excitement to the Lake Area with the success of hometown star Joshua Ledet. His passion and incredible talent landed him in the Final 3, and the world was introduced to Westlake, Louisiana, on a national primetime network television program.
The Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau put together a comprehensive report of all of the media mentions surrounding Joshua Ledet and his hometown beginning from Josh's Top 7 performance to the present. Southwest Louisiana received national coverage such as Entertainment Weekly which stated "my favorite hometown heroes segment had to be Joshua Ledet's. I thought he really came alive once he landed in Westlake, Louisiana. This place had everything."
Other coverage included The Times-Picayune, Houston Chronicle and San Antonio Express News, which resulted in a total of 1,569 articles produced and $5.6 million worth of free publicity. Additionally, the recognition of Southwest Louisiana and our culture on a positive, family-friendly primetime network television show like American Idol is priceless.
The Homecoming Pep Rally was a huge success with over 65 media outlets attending from all over Louisiana and Texas. It would not have been possible without the support from the entire community helping make this one of the largest nationally publicized events for Calcasieu Parish and one Joshua and his family will never forget.
