Uproar on the Lakeshore: Lake Charles Roller Derby

LAKE CHARLES, La. (July 3, 2012)-Flat track roller derby, one of the fastest growing sports in America, is an empowering contact sport for women on roller skates. Roller derby made its way to the Lake Area about two years ago and is going strong.  The Gulf Coast Roller Girls' Lafitte's Ladies will welcome Assassination City Roller Derby of Dallas, TX, Dirty Little Secret Service, to Lake Charles on July 7.

The public is invited to watch the action at The Grindhouse, located at 932 Enterprise Boulevard, Site C, on July 7 at 7 p.m.  Doors open at 6 p.m.   Tickets may be purchased at the door for $12.  One child may get in free for every adult ticket purchased.  Additional children's tickets are $6.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and beverages.

Lafitte's Ladies have been together since July 2010 and are currently ranked 8th in the Derby South.  The Derby South is comprised of 36 teams across Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Florida.
