What do you get for the man who has everything? Instead of getting Dad yet another tool for the barbecue, how about planning a weekend full of experience to create treasured memories together?

FRIDAY:

L'Auberge Casino Resort and Golden Nugget sit right next door to each other in Lake Charles, LA.

Kick the weekend off with dinner and a show at Golden Nugget Lake Charles or L’Auberge Casino Lake Charles. If you’re in a country-rock vibe, Gretchen Wilson and Clay Cormier and the Highway Boys are both in town for a boot-scootin’ good time!

Keep the Americana themes going with some good ol’ steakhouse fare at Saltgrass or go with something closer to home cooking with Favorite’s Southern Kitchen. And maybe, if you feel the urge, take a quick spin on the roulette or play a few hands of your favorite card game—it might be your lucky day!

SATURDAY:

Iron Shop Provisions

Treat dad to a meat-filled meal to kick off his Saturday with any of the many delightful dishes at Prime Butcher & Brasserie. Then head downtown and let him pick out his own gift at Iron Shop Provisions—they’ve got everything dad needs to stay hip.

Throw in a quick stop to satisfy any dads with a hankering for history at the USS Orleck Naval Museum. A decorated U.S. Navy ship, the Orleck offers tours all day on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. with the final tour beginning at 3:00 p.m.

USS Orleck

Does your dad like exercise? More importantly, does he like beer? Louisiana Brew Mile Presented by Smoke & Barrel may be just the evening activity you’re looking for. Burn off all those lunchtime calories with a quick mile run and add them back on with some delicious beers from Crying Eagle Brewing Company.

Round out the evening with a blast from the past: Cry Baby at Panorama Music House. Cry Baby is a local band that harkens back to the good old days of rock n’ roll with their wide range of classic covers. Make sure to grab some local beers and sneak in a game or two of skee-ball in Panorama’s game room during set breaks!

SUNDAY:

Villa Brunch

Brunch isn’t only for the ladies! Dad would most certainly enjoy a brunch out at Crying Eagle Brewing Company’s Bistro to start his official Father’s Day off right. If the weather’s nice and you feel like a walk, Tuten Park’s newly reopened walking trails might be just the ticket!

You could also hop on over to Sulphur to kick off a mini road trip along the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road by visiting Creole Nature Trail Adventure Point. The Creole Nature Trail takes you through Louisiana's Outback through marshlands all the way to Gulf beaches. Bonus: if there are young children in the family, they will love the interactive exhibits at Adventure Point.

Spend your weekend making memories this Father’s Day—they’ll be the best gift you can give!
