Summertime in Southwest Louisiana means two words: hot and humid! Make plans to beat the heat at the Lake Area’s coolest pools. Southwest Louisiana boasts three fabulous pool complexes to keep you comfortable and entertained during the sweltering Gulf Coast summer.
L’Auberge Casino Resort entices guests outdoors with their tropical garden pool complex. Just a hint of imagination will transport you to the relaxing Caribbean. There’s a family pool and a quieter adult pool area with its own bar -- your choice.
Grab a floatie and gently meander down the Lazy River along lush green vegetation, beneath jungle island bridges, and around the island. Hop into one of two Jacuzzis, backstroke to the swim-up bar, or play volleyball or bocce ball on the expansive lawn. All that activity will work up an appetite, so hook a bite to eat at the Blue Crush Grill. Their menu offers kid friendly items. Jack Daniel’s Bar & Grill is also only a few steps away. After lunch, rest in one of 14 private cabanas.
The pool complex is open to L’Auberge guests only, but beach access is free and open to the public. Grab a snack or beverage at Touloulou’s Bar, (a unique refurbished Airstream), dance to the music, sink your toes in the sand, or toast marshmallows by the fire pit.
L’Auberge Pool Complex is home to the popular Party by the Pool/Liquid Society summer concert series. Check their website for the 2016 schedule.
Just down the boardwalk from L’Auberge, you’ll find the Golden Nugget. Their H2O Pool and Bar has an exciting Las Vegas vibe, with upbeat music, contemporary seating, fire-pits, 34 poolside cabanas, and lively libations. The extra-large pool features adult only and family sections, tanning ledges with in-water loungers, swim up daybeds and a swim up bar. There are 5 hot tubs and a Lazy River with two slides.
A DJ entertains guests every weekend through the summer. Food and drinks are available from the bar and grill with pool attendants and servers to meet every need. Non-hotel guests may purchase day passes to the pool. H2O Pool and Bar is a unique venue for parties and celebrations. They also have a beach for guests, complete with two beach volleyball courts, fire pits, and the Cadillac Beach Bar.
Sulphur Parks & Recreation (SPAR) Waterpark offers fun in the sun for all ages. This wild wet destination has been expanded the past two years, offering even more slides, sprays, splashes, and spouts in Sulphur. For kids of all ages, there’s a 600 foot long Raging River, Larry’s Lazy River, and the Lagoon Pool. Younger guests will enjoy Patch’s Splash Pad and Splash & Play Island, with fountains, tipping buckets, small-scale slides and not to mention a gigantic yellow bucket that dumps 500 gallons of water every two minutes!
Food and beverages are also available. SPAR Waterpark opens on May 19.
