Story and Photos by Kayla Martin/Time and Beauty Photography (Visit Lake Charles fan)
I recently got asked by a friend to travel to Louisiana. She was going to visit her brother who lives in Iowa, Louisiana. I could not turn her down. I love to travel and always wanted to visit Southwest Louisiana.
I also knew that it would give me a chance to photograph new things that I may not ever see again. That itself was a huge thrill. In my head, I pictured what I might see but when I got there it was an experience I could not imagine.
On our first day, we went kayaking at Lorraine Bayou it was the most exciting experience I've ever had! Knowing that there were alligators right underneath me was exciting, but the scenery was nothing I've ever seen. It was beautiful. The trees growing up through the water and the moss hanging down from the limbs is a sight I’ll never forget.
The second day we went to Cameron Prairie Wildlife Refuge, I love how you can drive and be so close to so many animals. I have never seen so many different types of birds some of them that I photographed were a Red Wing Blackbird, Snowy Egret, and herons.
It is an absolutely gorgeous place! I got to capture so many beautiful animals some of my best pictures came from my trip to Louisiana.
