Last night, my family was having dinner at one of my favorite local Italian restaurants, Joe’s Pizza & Pasta.  Their homemade marinara sauce is the best I’ve had and their family is from Sicily. Their accent is adorable!

But I digress.

During dinner, my grandfather and brother-in-law were discussing their passion – golf.  My brother-in-law had played a great game at Gray Plantation (his words, not mine) and my grandfather was talking about his next golf game over the weekend at Frasch Park Golf Course in Sulphur.

We were also discussing the fact that the Golden Nugget Lake Charles just opened the newest course in Lake Charles – the Country Club at the Golden Nugget.  I am so excited because I have been contacted by various golf writers over the last several months chomping at the bit to come and play!

The Country Club at the Golden Nugget is an 18-hole, par 72 golf course designed by the award winning Todd Eckinrode and Origins Golf Design.  It’s right on the bayou with Miniverde greens and Celebration tees, fairways and roughs.  They say it’s definitely a must play for visitors of all levels.

As a resort destination, now we have two casino golf courses located next door to each other with L’Auberge Casino Resort’s Contraband Bayou Golf Club.  It’s a unique, par 71 championship Tom Fazio designed course with natural vegetation and eight lakes to challenge golfers of all skill levels.  It has numerous accolades and has repeatedly won Best Places to Play in Louisiana and Best Casino Courses by Golfweek magazine.  The carts come with interactive touch screen GPS.

Gaming and golfing has never been better in Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana!

I looking for people who’ve had the opportunity to play at the Golden Nugget’s new course, the Country Club, to see how it was. Let me hear from you!
