Whether you’re quarantined together or celebrating apart, we’ve got the scoop to help you honor the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and all the special women in your life this Sunday.

Move your brunch reservation to the kitchen table by ordering to-go from your favorite local restaurant. In doing so, you will also help support the local restaurant industry during this time. It’s a win-win for everyone! If you’re unable to see her this Sunday, you can still order breakfast from her favorite local spot and have it delivered right when she wakes up. 4. #ShopLocal gifts from local artisans

Local shops and artisans offer a wide variety of thoughtful and personal gifts. If the special mother in your life loves gifts with a Louisiana flare, Southwest Louisiana artists like Candice Alexander, Pixel & Ink, Danielle Nester Faulk Original Art incorporate Southwest Louisiana’s scenery and culture in their masterpieces. Click here to view all of #LouisianasPlayground’s artists and how to find and purchase their creations.

Corner Market located in Downtown Lake Charles is a gem when needing a last-minute gift for Mother’s Day! Their shelves and walls are stocked with wall art, household items, jewelry, greeting cards, and candles made by Southwest Louisiana artisans. They are even offering same-day delivery through the Gophr App so you don’t even have to leave your house!

5. Don’t forget the sweets

Cards and a bouquet of flowers will always make for good Mother's Day gifts, but if you really want to make her smile, sweets are the not-so-secret secret to her heart. I like to leave the baking to the experts, so ordering fresh scones from The Bekery and a dozen cupcakes from Jo’s Party House is the perfect solution. Note: Most bakeries are closed on Sunday, so I suggest preordering before Saturday.

You don't have to skip out on the time-honored tradition of enjoying a sundae on Sunday! Boombox Frozen Pops and Ice Cream has introduced their own DIY sundae kits which includes everything you need to build a sundae with your mom or your whole family. The kits are only $19.99 and come with your choice of three 8oz containers of ice cream, 4 handmade waffle cones, and 6 toppings. Pick-up is on Saturday. Order your DIY sundae kit here.

6. Stop and smell the roses

Each year, I struggle with what to get my mom. I’m not sure about all your moms, but mine loves to garden, and right now is the perfect time to get outdoors and put that green thumb to use. There are a few nurseries and garden centers offering curbside pickup in Southwest Louisiana, like Greengate Garden Center, who is even open on Sunday from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Pro Tip: Want to secure your spot as favorite child or grandchild? Give her a perennial, so that every year when the plant blooms, she will think of you!
