I imagine that after Christmas, Halloween is a kid’s favorite holiday. It’s a day of dress up, parties and of course, loads of candy! I’ve rounded up a couple of Southwest Louisiana’s kid-friendly Halloween events that are sure to make this month - Funtober!
CM Farms- Louisiana's Largest Corn Maze Experience
This place is the coolest! Not only can you explore the 12-acre corn maze but the kiddos are going to love the zip line rides, wagon rides, giant jumping pillow and barrel train rides. There are also live pig races (LOL), cow milking demos, games and NERF gun wars! Special to the Halloween season, the “Spookley” maze is perfect for the little kids. Read the story of “Spookley the Square Pumpkin” as you navigate a small maze and “Three Silly Billy Goats and their Stuff “in the Fairytale Trail. CM Farms is the ultimate autumn farming experience. Movies in the Square – Heritage Square Sulphur
Nothing puts you in a spooktacular mood like a classic Halloween movie night. Heritage Square in Sulphur will host 2 movie nights with feature films “Goosebumps” and “Hocus Pocus.” Bring a picnic and get there early for a good spot, movies begin at sunset. On October 28, don’t worry about bring along treats, there will be a special Trunk or Treat event in the square before the movie begins. Oct. 14 & Oct. 28
Halloween Harvest Fest
Games, train rides, face and balloon art are the harvest fun you’ll find at the City of Lake Charles Harvest Festival. Even your littlest “monsters” will enjoy the “Tiny TOTS World” in the Exhibition Hall. Costumes are encouraged but not required. Oct. 31 : 5-8 PM
Downtown Lake Charles Trick or Treat Candy Crawl
Grab the kiddos and head downtown for thrills, chills, and CANDY, CANDY, CANDY! Local businesses will be passing out candy to trick-or-treaters from 3-6 PM. Oct. 31
Parents Night Out – Halloween Special
These events are the ULTIMATE treats to parents! Club Tabby is hosting 4 nights of eerily good fun for your kiddos and YOU get the night off. For $20 ($30 for the Halloween Party), your little goblin can enjoy a night of spooky storytelling, dress up, treats and more. Dinner is included. Call to reserve a spot.

Carnival of Treats: USS Orleck
Kids will be treated to a carnival-like party aboard the historic 70-year-old Navy destroyer with fun, games, and treats. Oct. 30.

Halloween Party at Central Library
The library knows how to throw a party! Games, snack, crafts, story time PLUS a showing of the cutest Halloween movie ever, “It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.” Parish libraries will be hosting a ton of Halloween and fall events for the month of October. A safe and sugary Halloween with frightfully fun activities! Participating stores will be handing out treats to all the little ghouls and goblins. Grab your free trick-or-treat bag at the entrance of JCPenney.
