Southwest Louisiana boasts five championship 18-hole golf courses. Warm up with a bucket or two on the driving ranges. After the 18th hole, dine and relax in the clubhouses and browse the pro shops. L’Auberge’s Contraband Bayou Golf Course was designed by world renowned golf architect Tom Fazio. The Golden Nugget Lake Charles plans to open their new golf course this April. No trip to Calcasieu and Cameron Parishes is complete without a visit to our legendary Louisiana Outback. Unwind and take in the unique sights and sounds along the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road. And bring your fishing pole! This National Scenic Byway loops through 180 miles of wildlife refuges, marsh grass, bayous, and walkways to explore nature up close. You may see alligators sunning themselves along the roadside canals, but for a better view, visit these wildlife sanctuaries. These areas are also perfect for bird watching.
If you’d like a guide to help you connect with the natural beauty of Southwest Louisiana, consider Grosse Savanne Eco-tours. These outfitters offer boat tours and packages for birding and nature photography.
Still think you need some sand and surf for a proper spring break? No problem! We have several beach locations for sun and fun. L’Auberge and Golden Nugget both have beach areas.
