DOWNTOWN AT SUNDOWN STREAMED ONLINE ON MAY 15

The 2020 season of Downtown at Sundown is changing as a result of guidelines from federal and state governments concerning COVID-19. A virtual concert will be live-streamed from multiple downtown business locations on Friday, May 15 at 6 p.m. Live musical performances by Rusty Metoyer and the Zydeco Krush and the Casey Peveto Band will be broadcasted on www.pushvenue.com and www.facebook.com/downtownatsundown

“Downtown at Sundown is one of the most anticipated events each year. It’s vital to supporting local musicians, artists, restaurants and nonprofits,” said Lake Charles Mayor Nicholas Hunter. “We are committed to protecting the health of our community, and as difficult as it is to suspend this popular annual music series, we feel it is in the best interest of the public. We are looking forward to leveraging technology to offer a virtual alternative on May 15. We’re also working with local organizations on alternative ways to support our local artists and restaurants that benefit from the event’s success.”

Downtown at Sundown has occurred on four consecutive Fridays in May and June in downtown Lake Charles since 1999. Last year, the event was attended by 3,000 people weekly. The street-fair format features food and beverage, table top galleries, merchandise vendors, activities for kids as well as a variety of music.

This event is supported by corporate sponsorships from The American Press, Capital One Bank, CITGO Petroleum, Stockwell Sievert Law Firm, Entergy, Lake Charles Toyota, Fuerst Carrier and Ogden Law Firm, and Erdace Companies.
