The Forty-Fourth Annual Palm Sunday Tour of Homes will be on April 14, 2019, Palm Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m to 5 p.m. The theme will be:  Innovations and Traditions Between the Parks. Five private residences and one garden space will be on the tour. Properties are located in the prestigious neighborhoods between Lock Park and Drew Park in vintage shoreline Lake Charles. Drew Park and Lock Park are jewel box public parks and they bracket some of Lake Charles’s most desirable neighborhoods including Margaret Place, Shell Beach Drive, and Alvin and Watkins Streets. Staff and docent tour guides will provide historical content and color information at each of the properties on the day of the Tour.

Innovations and Traditions will focus on stylish interiors including upgraded Craftsman inspired features on two fabulous family homes, a complete re-working of a vintage firehouse now used as a guest house, an authentic bungalow cottage updated for contemporary living, and the glamorous retirement property designed for retired Louisiana reform governor Sam H. Jones and wife Louise. A charming courtyard garden on the Lake is also a part of the Tour menu.

The Palm Sunday Tour of Homes is a Southwest Louisiana tradition and one of the spring’s showcase cultural and social events.

Tickets for the Tour will be available beginning March 10th at several retail outlets in the Lake Charles area or online at the Preservation Society website: CalcasieuPreservation.org.  Pre-event tickets are $10, and tickets on the day of the Tour are $15.  A full-color program with local historical information, tour map, and a suggested tea-room will be available on the day of the Tour at the Tour Headquarters, Drew Park Pavilion on Dr. Michael Debakey Drive beginning at 12:30 PM.
