Botanical Art & Illustration from the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation will be on display in the second floor gallery through March 24. The Hunt Institute specializes in the history of botany. It acquires and maintains authoritative collections of books, plant images, manuscripts, portraits and data files, and provides publications and other modes of information service. The Institute meets the reference needs of botanists, biologists, historians, conservationists, librarians, bibliographers and the public at large, especially those concerned with any aspect of the North American flora.
The Hunt Institute established the International Exhibition of Botanical Art & Illustration series in 1964. Every three years, this series features the works of talented botanical artists from around the world. This exhibition is a compilation from the artworks in the 15th International series (2016) and features artworks by 38 artists who are citizens of 14 countries. Local artist Carol Saunders is featured in this exhibition. Mark your calendars for a demonstration by Mrs. Saunders on Saturday, January 20 from 1-3 PM.
