Culture Fest Louisiana is a celebration of all the many cultures represented in SWLA. It is an opportunity to travel the world and learn how diverse our community is. There is music and art, dance and fashion, food and festivities, and a chance to learn that even with our differences, we are very much the same. We bring the same hopes for our families to the table. Come celebrate with us !!
This free family event will also have a variety of exhibits, each spotlighting a different country and cultural experience. The History of Musical Instruments exhibit is a hands-on learning experience for everyone. The House of Angklung, D.C.(from Indonesia) will bring 150 instruments for attendees to play during their musical workshop and performance. There will also be cultural display booths from around the world.
A variety of entertainment is planned, including Teo Chew Temple Lion & Dragon Dancers, Solero Flamenco and the Mexican Folkloric dancers, and the Muggivan Irish dancers from New Orleans.
Culture Fest Louisiana is presented by Common Ground, a nonprofit organization, and began in 2011 in partnership with the City of Lake Charles, McNeese State University, Calcasieu Parish Public Library, and several civic organizations and schools.
