The McNeese State University Department of Performing Arts will present the McNeese Chamber Singers in a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in Tritico Theatre of the Shearman Fine Arts Annex. The choral group is under the direction of Darryl Jones, director of choral activities, and is accompanied by Bonnie Randel.
The program will feature a variety of choral works, including “Prelude” and “Ubi Caritas” by Ola Gjeilo, “O Praise the Lord With One Consent” from “Chandos Anthem IX” (Psalm 135) by Handel, “Sicut cervus/Sitivit anima mea” (Psalm 42) by Palestrina and “Alleluia” from “Songs of Faith” by Paul Basler, featuring McNeese assistant professor Rod Lauderdale on horn, “Madrigal” by Gabriel Fauré, “Hirtenchor” (“Shepherd’s Chorus” from “Rosamunde” by Franz Schubert, featuring McNeese student Thomas Logan on clarinet, “Der Gang zum Liebchen” (Journey to My Love) by Brahms and a Mark Hayes arrangement of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” (from “Carousel”) with “Climb Every Mountain” (from “The Sound of Music”).
Chamber Singers members include: Lindsey Bower, Kaitlin Colby, Molly Jones, Emily Lancon, Courtney McKinney and April Henry Stone, sopranos; Erin Bryson, Mary Buller, Lara Connally, Marykate Core, Amy Phillips, Isabella (Nina) Rodriguez and Taylor Trahan, altos; Layton Bergstedt, Tyler Brumback, Kevin Delaney and Andrew Steiner, tenors; and Austin Bass, Justin Breaux, Bryce Louviere, Gary Lytle, Lucas Orsot and John Paul Primeaux, basses.
