Get Back in the Game with Tournament of the Stars


LAKE CHARLES, La. (July 9, 2012)-The 18th Annual Tournament of the Stars Pro Am Basketball Classic (TOS) kicks off Saturday, August 11, at 9 a.m. at various locations including Barbe High School, Ward 3 Power Center, St. Louis High School and the Lake Charles Boston High School gym. Teams come from all over the country with high hopes of becoming the 2012 TOS tournament champion.

The series concludes Sunday, August 12, with championship rounds of men's and women's divisions as well as a youth tournament for elementary, middle, and high school boys at noon at the Lake Charles Civic Center. The Back to School Fun Day will kick off that morning where a number of school supplies will be handed out and door prizes given away. Also college students will be able to enter a drawing to win ten $150 book stipends.

Other featured events include a Scholarship Fundraiser at the Lake Charles Civic Center July 29 featuring Percy Sledge which the proceeds benefit Abraham's Tent and a Celebrity Golf Classic at Coushatta Casino Resort August 10. In addition, TOS has teamed up with the Glen "Big Baby" Davis Foundation to host a youth boys and girls basketball camp August 8-10.
Since its inception in 1995, this basketball tournament has continued to grow and has hosted as many as 60 teams in the past. TOS has been recognized as the largest professional/amateur basketball classic in the Southern United States and raises funds for local scholarships and local community events.

The mission for Tournament of the Stars is to encourage, inspire and enlighten youth through recreational, educational and cultural events. The organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life for youth through sports by giving deserving high school students the opportunity for higher education through the McReynold's Scholarship Fund. This year, eight local high school seniors were presented with scholarships.
