The Taste of Louisiana Festival Asks for Vendors and Competitors

LAKE CHARLES, La. (March 7, 2012)-The Taste of Louisiana Festival will take place on Saturday, May 26, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Lake Charles Civic Center Amphitheater. Vendor applications are now being accepted for arts and crafts booths, food and entertainment.

The festival also introduces its first ever Barbecue Rib Cook-off for bragging rights of the best barbecue ribs. The competition will consist of 25 professional and amateur teams competing for a first place cash prize and trophy. The contest will focus on pork ribs of any kind, spare ribs, loin back ribs, country style ribs, flat bone-button ribs, St. Louis style ribs and Kansas City style ribs.

This festival includes live performances from Cajun Radio Artist of the Year Horace Trahan and the Ossun Express, Grammy nominated country artist Bryan Fontenot, New Orleans Brass Band Brass-A-Holics "Gogo Brass Funk Band," Southwest Louisiana's own Brandon Ledet and the Creole Touch and many more.

There is plenty of fun for the entire family including face painters, inflatable water slides, a Chefs Corner for cooking demonstrations and a Culture Corner to learn more about Louisiana culture.

The entry fee for the Barbecue Rib Cook-off is $75 with a maximum of four per team. The first place winner will receive a cash prize of $500.
