Allstate Sugar Bowl LHSAA Marsh Madness
Basketball State Championship Tournaments

LAKE CHARLES, La. (February 28, 2020) —The Allstate Sugar Bowl Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) Marsh Madness Girls’ Basketball State Championship Tournament will be held March 3 – 7, followed by the Boys’ Basketball State Championship Tournament, March 10 - 14, at the Burton Coliseum Complex, 7001 Gulf Hwy.  Semi-final games will be played on Tuesday through Thursday each week with state champions being crowned on Friday and Saturday.

“2020 is a great year for athletic events coming to Southwest Louisiana, and we are more than pleased to host two basketball state championship tournaments back-to-back this March. We appreciate the partnership with CPPJ and Burton Coliseum and look forward to this showcase.  I would like to encourage everyone across the region to attend the games and see the best high school boys and girls basketball players from around the state during both tournaments,” said Kyle Edmiston, President/CEO of Visit Lake Charles.

“Lake Charles has been the home of the LHSAA Basketball State Championship Tournament for many years, and we enjoy the level of hospitality and professionalism that everyone experiences in Southwest Louisiana. The teams are ready to compete and also enjoy the local food, culture and welcoming sports fans of the area,” said Eddie Bonine, LHSAA executive director.

“The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is thrilled to have the opportunity to host the Marsh Madness Basketball Championships. We look forward to this opportunity every year in welcoming players and fans to our community, and this year, we are fortunate to host both the boys’ and girls’ tournaments. We hope this year’s tournaments are a success, and we wish the best of luck to the teams competing for their chance to be deemed state champions,” said Jason Barnes, Burton Complex Director.

“We are excited to have both the LHSAA Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball State Championship Tournaments at Burton Coliseum. Over the two-week span of time, the city will have the opportunity to showcase the best of Lake Charles to student athletes, their families and sports fans, and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to Lake Charles,” said Mayor Nic Hunter of the City of Lake Charles.
