Christmas Events in Lake Charles

In Southwest Louisiana each season calls for a celebration. Christmas is no different with an array of holiday markets, parades, meet and greets with Ol’ St. Nick, and of course delicious holiday treats. Look no further than Louisiana’s Playground to plan your holiday itinerary. The celebrations begin one month before Christmas Day with the annual Light Up The Lake Christmas Celebration at the Lake Charles Event Center, complete with Christmas treats, festive concerts, and fireworks over the lake.

LIGHT DISPLAYS

Nothing beats magical displays of Christmas lights especially when their twinkling colors coordinate with your favorite Christmas classics. Delight in the annual displays by traveling on foot, in your vehicle, or by horse-drawn carriage. Returning displays include Millenium Park’s Holiday Lights Display, Shell Beach Drive, and Prien Lake Park’s Giant Christmas tree perfect for Christmas card photos. Be sure to explore The Grove at Heritage Square to experience a winter wonderland right out of your favorite holiday movie.

HOLIDAY PERFORMANCES

Be sure to visit one of several holiday concerts, recitals, and performances. This year Lake Area Ballet returns with its annual performances of “The Nutcracker”. Other performances include concerts by local churches, the Louisiana Choral Foundation, and the Dr. Francis G. Bulber Youth Orchestra.

SHOPPING EVENTS BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Louisiana’s Playground has no shortage of boutiques and gift shops like Not Just Christmas where you can purchase all your holiday décor and find stocking stuffers and personalized gifts for the entire family. For an even larger assortment of gifts visit one of our holiday markets that bring together local and visiting vendors selling art, jewelry, apparel, delicious food and treats and so much more! Several of this year’s markets include live entertainment and exclusive Sip & Shops events. Be sure to visit Mistletoe & Moss, the Holiday Art Walk by the Arts & Humanities Council, Christmas Under the Oaks, and the Inaugural Creole Christmas Market, to name a few!
