Christmas Events in Lake Charles

CHRISTMAS FOR FAMILIES

Southwest Louisiana knows how to get in the Christmas spirit. With parades, concerts, food, and Santa Claus, Southwest Louisiana is the place to be to enjoy the most wonderful time of the year. The City of Lake Charles presents the Light Up the Lake Christmas Festival to celebrate the season, complete with music and fireworks over the lake, and a lighted Christmas Boat Parade organized by local boaters! Everyone will delight at the Winter Wonderland Snow Village display at 1911 City Hall, and Sulphur's Balloon Parade and Moss Bluff Christmas street parade for families to enjoy.

LIGHT DISPLAYS

Is there anything more festive this time of year than a twinkling holiday light display? We don’t think so either. Unless, of course, you’re soaking up those dazzling sites cuddled up in the back of a horse-drawn carriage. Carriage rides along Shell Beach Drive take you under a canopy of lighted oak trees to see majestic twinkling houses with the nearby Millennium Park Holiday Lights display. And, while pretty any time of year, Prien Lake Park’s giant Christmas tree is perfect for family photos. In Sulphur, the Grove at Heritage Square is always decked out in Christmas splendor with nearby Pecan Street that is walkable, giving the feeling of being in a charming Christmas movie scene. Also, in Carlyss, near Sulphur, Almosta Ranch Christmas Light Festival celebrates the season with lights, horseback riding, feeding farm animals, and smore's kits!

HOLIDAY PERFORMANCES

Celebrate the season with holiday concerts, performances, shopping events and so much more. Lake Area Ballet Theatre presents "The Nutcracker," with ACTS Theatre producing "Elf" too! You can also check out Christmas concerts by the Louisiana Choral Foundation and the Lake Charles Symphony.

SIX SHOPPING EVENTS BEFORE CHRISTMAS

For unique gift ideas that come from the heart, there are six festive holiday art markets that feature local artists, jewelry, pottery, apparel, toys, and of course, tasty food items. Several markets on the calendar include Mistletoe & Moss, the Holiday Art Walk by the Arts & Humanities Council, Christmas Under the Oaks in Sulphur complete with live music and carnival rides for the young at heart, Holiday Art Under the Oak at the Imperial Calcasieu Museum, the Christmas in Choupique Holiday Market, and Last Stop Christmas Shop!
