Arts & Crabs Fest
Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Event

LAKE CHARLES, La. (July 18, 2019)—The Southeast Tourism Society (STS) recently honored the Arts & Crabs Fest as a 2019 Top 20 Event for the month of August.

Celebrating the arts and culture of the region as well as the culinary arts found in Southwest Louisiana, Arts & Crabs Fest will take place Saturday, Aug. 17, from 5 – 8 p.m., at the Burton Coliseum. The event will offer an extensive tasting featuring the best local chefs, each preparing a unique seafood dish representative of their cuisine’s styles. Louisiana craft brew samples are offered as complementary pairings to all dishes. Chefs battle in the annual crab dish contest, with one "People's Choice" winner being chosen by the attendees in a popular vote, and an additional first place "Best Crab Dish" chosen by a judging panel. Additionally, the event will feature live music and an eclectic art market with live demonstrations. Tickets are $40 each and available to purchase online at www.eventbrite.com

The Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention and Visitors Bureau is a member of STS, an organization that promotes travel to and within the southeastern part of the United States. The bureau nominates area fairs, festivals and events quarterly. The STS Top 20 Events marketing program highlights the “best of the best” from submitted entries.

Events are selected from each of the following STS member states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. The Top 20 Events publication is sent to over 1,600 media outlets each quarter, including web, magazines, radio stations, TV stations, AAA publications and newspapers. The combined circulation of organizations using the publication is well into the millions. Therefore, the potential media coverage of these events has made the Top 20 Events list a coveted honor.
