LAKE CHARLES, La. (February 8, 2022)—Visit Lake Charles and the Arts & Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana have teamed up to highlight the area’s artists with the Southwest Louisiana Heartbeat Tour which allows for artists with or without storefronts to have the ability to gain exposure through the online community.
“Two years ago, the Heartbeat Tour was launched on Valentine’s Day to show artists how much we appreciate what they are doing to enhance cultural experiences in Southwest Louisiana. It is the perfect way for art-lovers to be able to explore local talent and support the artists that resonate with them. Some artists have storefronts, but many do not. Some artists have art sprinkled throughout local businesses for sale or have exclusive virtual storefronts. Regardless of those barriers, the Heartbeat Tour allows everyone to be seen in one central location online,” said Devan Corbello, executive director of the Arts & Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana.
“Local artists play a tremendous role in the character, warmth and charm of the area from their presence at festivals and events or the colorful pieces that are on display inside many local businesses throughout Southwest Louisiana. Several artists on the tour give demonstrations or tours of their studios by appointment, and the Heartbeat Tour allows for a deeper connection for visitors who are interested in a rich, cultural experience whenever they are in Southwest Louisiana,” said Angie Manning, VP of Communications for Visit Lake Charles.
Artists from Calcasieu, Cameron, Allen, Beauregard, and Jeff Davis area are invited to create a profile at www.VisitLakeCharles.org/Heartbeat. Categories include painters, photographers, jewelry makers, sculptors, graphic artists, pottery/ceramics, woodworkers, metal workers, muralists, and glass artists.
Participating artists who would like to update their Heartbeat Tour profile should contact Angie Manning at amanning@visitlakecharles.org.
