Visit Lake Charles Senior Director of Brand Marketing Colten Miller graduated from the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) Marketing College, earning him the professional designation of Travel Marketing Professional (TMP).  

Miller is now one of more than 1,300 TMPs who have graduated from the three-year program since its launch in 1992. The Southeast Tourism Society announced its graduates Tuesday during the Marketing College Graduation luncheon at the STS Connections Conference this year in Jackson, Mississippi.    

Each year, for one week, students gather at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, to learn marketing techniques from industry experts. The students explore the latest trends, dissect data, and craft strategies for tourism and travel.    

“The Southeast Tourism Society Marketing College has provided me with a wealth of skills,” said Colten Miller, VLC senior director of brand marketing. “These have not only catalyzed my personal advancement but also positioned me to elevate our team with the latest industry best practices and contemporary trends.”    

Miller joined Visit Lake Charles in 2014 as a student intern. Working his way up through the organization, he was recently promoted to senior director of brand marketing, where he oversees branding and advertising, all while ensuring the destination’s voice remains consistent through all of VLC’s marketing channels.    

“We are very proud of Colten and his achievement in becoming a Travel Marketing Professional,” said Kyle Edmiston, VLC president and CEO. “This recognition shows not only his commitment to continuing education but his willingness to challenge his thinking and find new ways to engage and attract visitors to Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana.”
