LAKE CHARLES, La. (December 26, 2019)– The annual Gingerbread House Contest People’s Choice winner was announced Thursday, Dec. 26, at the Visit Lake Charles’ Welcome Center, 1205 N. Lakeshore Drive.

Throughout the month, residents and tourists visiting the Visit Lake Charles’ Welcome Center voted on the People’s Choice Award, and the entry that garnered the most votes was the creation by Rachel Cormier’s family and consumer science classes from Iowa High School. The entry highlighted the theme from the movie, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” with Jack Skellington, his ghost-dog Zero, Jack Skellington’s house, Spiral Hill and the full moon, all showcased in an imaginative and colorful way.

With the New Year on the horizon, the next featured event for the Visit Lake Charles’ community art competition will be the Mardi Gras Shoebox Float contest taking place in early 2020.
