This week marks a new chapter for “Louisiana’s Playground.” The Visit Lake Charles (VLC) podcast highlighting all things Southwest Louisiana has named KPLC-TV Anchor and Assistant News Director Jillian Corder as its new host.
Corder will join VLC Director of Content/Video Marketing Brady Renard for the bi-weekly show, which celebrates the region’s vibrant culture and hidden gems. The co-hosts are married and will aim to bring that chemistry to the podcast.
The new “Louisiana’s Playground” co-host is no stranger to the art of storytelling. Corder, an award-winning journalist, has more than a decade of TV news experience covering countless local stories and events while building a strong connection with the community.
“Jillian Corder’s deep-rooted connection to the local community and her passion for storytelling makes her the ideal choice to drive “Louisiana’s Playground” into its next exciting phase,” said Timothy Bush, VLC’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We are confident that her fresh perspective and engaging presence will allow us to continue showcasing Southwest Louisiana like the premier destination it is.”
For the past year, “Louisiana’s Playground” has inspired and guided listeners to discover Lake Charles and its surroundings. The show also features “Envie Eats,” a segment showcasing the best of the area’s local cuisine. The podcast has captivated audiences from all over the world, boasting nearly 6,000 listens across 25 countries.
The podcast, now co-hosted by Renard and Corder, promises to provide even more in-depth insights into Southwest Louisiana’s culture, culinary, arts and diverse experiences.
“We’re excited to bring Jillian on board, and we believe her broadcasting experience and presence will add a fresh perspective to the podcast,” added Renard. “The show continues to be a valuable resource for both locals and potential visitors alike. We look forward to sharing this new chapter with the world.”
