Visit Lake Charles President and CEO Kyle Edmiston was honored with a Louisiana Community and Technical College System (LCTCS) Foundation 2023 Impact Award. Edmiston received the Joe D. May Excellence in Public Policy Award Wednesday night at the LCTCS Impact Awards Gala in New Orleans.

The LCTCS Impact Awards recognizes individuals, organizations, business and industry whose leadership efforts have been notably effective in advancing Louisiana’s education and workforce needs of students, businesses and communities.

“I am grateful for this acknowledgment,” expressed Edmiston. “This recognition isn’t just a reflection of my efforts but a testimony to our dedicated Visit Lake Charles team’s daily work. Through tourism campaigns, we will continue to foster those relationships with our community leaders and champion the growth of our students to ensure a robust workforce for our community and its future.”

“I am very excited and pleased that Kyle was chosen to receive the Joe D. May Public Policy Award from the Louisiana Community and Technical College System,” said SOWELA Chancellor Dr. Neil Aspinwall.

Aspinwall said he nominated Edmiston because of his outstanding work in developing policies, engaging stakeholders, and advocating on behalf of the education and workforce needs of the state.

“Kyle has been instrumental in making the SWLA region an exciting and welcoming travel destination and has helped strengthen many of the existing events that build tourism,” added Aspinwall. “Kyle has been a great partner for SOWELA and higher education in general by supporting events that help provide student support through scholarship opportunities. I am very happy for Kyle and the Visit Lake Charles team.”
