LAKE CHARLES, La (Jan. 3, 2020) - The Southeast Tourism Society (STS) recently honored Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana as a 2020 Top 20 Event for the month of January. From glittering parades and royal costumes to mambo, Zydeco and gumbo, the festivities have something for everyone, Jan. 3-Feb. 25.
Featured events include Twelfth Night, Jan. 4; the World Famous Cajun Extravaganza Gumbo Cook-off, Feb. 22; the Children’s Day Parade, Feb. 23; and the Royal Gala on Monday, Feb. 24. Visit Lake Charles is a member of STS, an organization that promotes travel to and within the southeastern part of the United States. The Visit Lake Charles staff nominates all area fairs, festivals and events quarterly. Travel industry experts select 20 events per month, and STS publicizes them throughout the United States.
