Visit Lake Charles is pleased to announce that the City of Sulphur will unveil a new gateway sign along Interstate 10 eastbound, approximately 0.71 miles west of the Exit 20 off-ramp. The official unveiling ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 29, with Mayor Mike Danahay joined by members of the Sulphur City Council, local business leaders and community members.
Designed to welcome visitors and celebrate community pride, the sign features the city’s motto – Faith, Family & Community – and highlights Sulphur as the gateway to the Creole Nature Trail-All American Road, one of Southwest Louisiana’s top attractions.
“This project is about creating a positive first impression and enhancing community identity,” Danahay said. “Whether you live here, work here, or are just visiting, we want you to know you’re in Sulphur, and you are welcome.”
The sign was designed by Parker Brand Creative and fabricated and installed by Gibko. The sign’s lettering will be illuminated with solar-powered lighting, and the surrounding low-maintenance landscaping will add color and visual interest while protecting the sign from mowing equipment.
The Gateway Signage Project was a collaborative effort between the City of Sulphur and a project enhancement grant from Visit Lake Charles. The initiative aims to enhance the city’s visibility and strengthen its identity.
“Visit Lake Charles is honored to have been able to partner with the City of Sulphur to develop its gateway sign,” said Kyle Edmiston, president and CEO of Visit Lake Charles. “The new sign will serve as a visible reminder to the more than 65,000 drivers that Sulphur is one of our parish’s most thriving cities.”
Those interested in attending the Gateway Signage Project unveiling ceremony on Thursday, May 29, should take Arena Road about a quarter mile past the West Cal Events Center and park on the shoulder.
