Red, White, Blue and You
Southeast Tourism Society Top 20 Event

LAKE CHARLES, La. (June 11, 2019)—The Southeast Tourism Society (STS) recently honored the City of Lake Charles’ Red, White, Blue & You Celebration as a 2019 Top 20 Event for the month of July.

On Thursday, July 4, celebrate our forefathers and veterans who fought for our freedom and current troops who now protect it. The celebration will kick off with a star-spangled street parade at 6 p.m. that will roll from Pine Street and south on Ryan Street, concluding at Dr. Michael DeBakey Drive. The celebration continues at the Lake Charles Event Center Arcade Pavilion with concessions, face painting and a patriotic program. The program begins at 6:45 p.m. with the sounds of Bluesiana RED. The Lake Charles Community Band, along with the Louisiana Choral Foundation and Friends, will also take the stage featuring a sing-a-long and a salute to the U.S. Armed Forces. Audience members are encouraged to bring their blankets or lawn chairs. The program will close with a fireworks extravaganza, beginning at 9:15 p.m. For more information, visit www.cityoflakecharles.com or call (337) 491-9159.

The Southwest Louisiana Convention and Visitors Bureau is a member of STS, an organization that promotes travel to and within the southeastern part of the United States. Events are selected from each of the following STS member states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. The Top 20 Events publication is sent to over 1,600 newspapers, magazines, radio stations, TV stations, AAA publications and others.
