Visit Lake Charles expanded their marketing team to include Sydney Peet as the marketing intern. Originally from Orange, Texas, Peet is a senior student at McNeese State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Marketing.
“I am grateful for this opportunity and excited to see what this internship has in store for me,” said Peet. "When seeking local marketing internships, I did not see many student programs like this one.”
Peet’s one-year commitment to the internship program at Visit Lake Charles includes assisting the marking team with tasks associated with public relations, digital marketing, social media, and more. With nearly three years of work history at shops like Mimosa Boutique and Mathews Jewelers Orange, Peet’s experience aligns with the organization’s goal of supporting local businesses. Additionally, she is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Upsilon, where she often volunteers with local organizations at community outreach events.
“The internship program at Visit Lake Charles is multifaceted, providing a wide range of experiences for students who are interested in learning about destination marketing. Through a variety of projects, interns can discover what resonates with them for their career path,” said Angie Manning, vice president of communications at Visit Lake Charles.
“It is important that Sydney completes her internship feeling accomplished and prepared for a professional career in marketing. Her task assignments will give her the opportunity to see the full scope of the organization and its role in the community,” said Shalisa Roland, director of public relations at Visit Lake Charles.
