Downtown at Sundown | May 23 & 30

Downtown at Sundown returns for its 25th anniversary of providing a free downtown concert experience for four consecutive Fridays this summer! Each concert features local and regional Swamp Pop, Cajun, Zydeco, and Classic Rock bands. Shop from local vendors and food trucks and enjoy outdoor activities and games. Don't miss the Opening Reception of  the Lake Area Music History Exhibit happening on opening night or the Glow After Party at the final installment of the series.

 

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park RV Resort Grand Opening | May 24

The much anticipated grand opening of Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park will feature the unveiling of brand new attractions like mini-golf, a water obstacle course, a giant jumping pillow and an electric performance by the Chee-Weez!

 

Avenue of Flags | May 30

Honor the past and present veterans of all military branches at the annual Avenue of Flags Ceremony held each Memorial Day and Veterans Day in Orange Grove Cemetery. Each year over 1,000 flags are placed throughout the ceremony by local volunteers in preparation for a special ceremony at 9 AM. The ceremony is open to the public and visitors are encouraged to tour the cemetery and view all the flags aligned along the Avenue.

Don't miss the opportunity to visit the new Vietnam Memorial located inside Veterans Memorial Park along the Lakefront Promenade. The sole official Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Louisiana, it pays tribute to the 885 Louisiana Vietnam War casualties.

 

Calcasieu Parish Short Film Festival | May 31

Discover short films from across the globe at the annual Calcasieu Parish Short Film Festival. Films range from 3 to 30 minutes in length in various genres including drama, comedy, and science fiction. Taking place at the Henning Cultural Center's Brimstone Museum Annex, festival attendees can attend seminars and special film presentations leading up to the awards ceremony for highest ranking films.

 

Wellness on the Water | May 31

Get ready for a brand-new immersive wellness festival at the Lake Charles Event Center! This high-energy health-focused event will feature a 1K fun walk/run, an optional 5K, fitness classes, and more! Cool down with physical therapy stations at the Recovery & Relaxation Zone, where industry experts will host stretching sessions to ensure healthy physical activity.

Head to McMurry Park to witness more exciting athletic entertainment as 40 baseball teams from across the state compete for the championship title during the Louisiana High School Athletic Association's State Baseball Tournament.
