It’s almost time for one of the biggest weekends in Louisiana high school sports. The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) State Softball Tournament returns to Sulphur this weekend, May 2-3, bringing the top 40 teams from across the state to North Frasch Park.
Southwest Louisiana continues to set the standard for hosting championship events, serving as the home to four LHSAA state tournaments each year. Sulphur Parks and Recreation (SPAR) remains at the center of it all, hosting both diamond sports, while also hosting the state swimming championships. The Burton Complex consistently shines as the home of the boys’ basketball state tournament.
Every year, these events draw tens of thousands of visitors, turning the area into a hub for competition and unforgettable moments.
What to Expect This Year
The state tournament brings together some of the best teams in Louisiana for a full week of competition. From early round matchups to championship showdowns, every game carries weight. The tournament was originally scheduled for May 1 and 2, but because of bad weather, it's now been moved to May 2 and 3. The schedule remains the same otherwise, and the girls are fired up and ready to play!
Fans can expect a packed schedule, with games happening throughout the weekend across multiple fields. Kicking off the tournament at 12 pm on Saturday, games will run from field 13 to field 19. At 2:30 pm, the second round of games will start on all fields. By 5 pm, the games will take place on fields 13 through field 18. Sunday, championship games will be played at 12 pm and 3 pm on fields 13 through 17. Be sure to check the official LHSAA website for updated brackets, matchups, and game times as the tournament gets closer.
Tickets, Concessions, & Fan Friendly Tips
Tickets will be sold online only, so plan ahead and purchase through GoFan before arriving. If you want the best experience, arrive early. Entering the fields, parking, crowds, and field locations can take time to navigate and getting there ahead of schedule helps you settle in before the action starts.
Concessions at North Frasch Park are typically cash only, so bringing cash is a must.
South Louisiana weather can be warm this time of year, so come prepared with sunscreen, hats, and anything you need to stay comfortable throughout the day.
