On May 2–3, the LHSAA State Softball Tournament returns to North Frasch Park, bringing together top-talent teams from across Louisiana. These athletes are the real deal—strong, skilled, and ready to compete. A longtime staple in Southwest Louisiana, this tournament has called Sulphur home for an impressive 23 consecutive years, fueling the dreams of players across the state on their #RoadToSulphur. The action kicks off with semi-final matchups on Friday, followed by the championship showdowns on Saturday, setting the stage for an action-packed weekend of high-stakes softball.
Make plans to be in Sulphur from May 13–17 as the LHSAA State Baseball Championship Tournament takes over McMurry Park. Teams from every corner of Louisiana will make their way to Southwest Louisiana, all with one goal: bring home the gold. This year brings a new twist to the format—semifinal matchups will be played on Tuesday, with championship games from Wednesday through Saturday in a best-of-three showdown. Over the years, local powerhouses like Barbe, Sulphur, Iowa, St. Louis, Sam Houston, and DeQuincy have made their mark on this storied tournament. Tickets are available exclusively through the GoFan website and app, so be sure to secure yours in advance and get ready for a week full of unforgettable baseball. No tickets will be sold at the gate, so be sure to grab yours here.
McNeese Softball is in full gear as they take to the diamond, continuing their season with championship conference play. With a mean record of 24-3 in conference play, the #1 Cowgirls are set to host their last trifecta of the season as they face off against the #2 Southeastern Lions. The McNeese Cowgirls Softball are the #1 seed in the Southland Conference, and they’re looking to change that title to Champions. The best 2-out-of-3 game championship series will be held at the Cowgirl Diamond on May 8, 9, and 10. Get all the info like game times, ticket information, and more here.
If you’ve been out to eat over the weekends recently in the Lake Area, you’ve probably sat next to or seen youth baseball and softball teams throughout local restaurants. Perfect Game, Calcasieu Baseball, and 2D Sports boast weekend baseball tournaments such as the LA/TX Border Wars, Perfect Game State, and 2D South Louisiana Opener. Each of these tournaments brings youth baseball teams from all around the country to play at O.D. Johnson, Ward 3 PowerCenter, and other recreational fields across the area.
