I have been painting in my chosen medium, watercolor, for 35 years. Born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana and a graduate of McNeese State University, I’m primarily self- taught in watercolor.
About 15 years ago I took a serious approach to art and began an intense self-study of design principles and their application to my artwork. I have built my skill level to be included in many juried exhibitions. In 2011 I was selected for the Lake Charles Mayor’s award for Artist of the Year. I am also an active member in several art associations in the area, and teach one class in watercolor.
Description of Work
As an artist I am constantly looking for glimpses of beauty or noticing pleasing designs of shapes, color and texture in my surroundings. When I see it I have a deep feeling of joy that I want to share with others through my artwork. My hope is to draw the viewer into my painting and remind them of the wonders around them and evoke a sense of peace, good feelings and refreshment.
I work on 140 or 200lb. cotton rag watercolor paper using fine artists watercolor pigments.
I primarily paint landscapes, cityscapes, birds, and house portraits.
