The Continental Room Room is located at 321 Pryce (formerly Lawrence) St. and is a part of Thomas Bilbo and Ann Lawrence Subdivision dedicated in 1874. The age of the building is unknown but was in all probability built by Mason P. Erwin sometime in the 1930’s. In 1948, the building became the home of The Trailway Bus Station.
The property was included in the Lake Charles Center City Redevelopment Area of 1980. Bobby Denton acquired the building in 1989. After his death in 2012, his sister, Mattie Denton-Borel decided to give the old building a facelift and to repurpose it into a much needed event center to serve Southwest Louisiana. The facility incorporates the old with the new in a cozy, chic, industrial environment.
The main space is 1189 sq ft and can accommodate the following: Banquet seating in rounds approximately 100; classroom approximately 80 w/18" tables; theatre approximately– 130; reception up to 150. The building is a blank canvas, waiting for the artist. We can however, under special circumstances and with enough notice, provide turnkey event planning. The Continental Room is now taking reservations. All Aboard for your perfect event.
