Library Riot Pride Prom
Join Library Riot and SWLA Pride for a dazzling night of inclusivity and celebration at the “We’ve All Got Crowns” Pride Prom on Saturday, June 20th! This Taylor Swift-inspired affair will feature high-energy DJ sets by Secret Stache and Derek Williams spinning from 8 PM to 2 AM, transforming the space into a vibrant dance floor. Expect $4 rainbow jello shots, champagne bottle service, and a glittering drag show where royalty will be crowned following the performances. With a $10 cover, this Pride Prom invites everyone to show up, show out, and celebrate the beauty of being unapologetically yourself. Crowns encouraged—because everyone deserves to feel like royalty.
Creative Roots — A Local Haven for LGBTQ+ Art, Events & Community
One of the most vibrant and welcoming spaces in Lake Charles is Creative Roots, a proudly LGBTQ+ and women-owned business that reflects the heart of our inclusive arts scene. Located near Downtown, Creative Roots is home to over 20 local artisans, with five identifying as part of the LGBTQ+ community. It’s not just a shopping destination, it’s a celebration of creativity, identity, and belonging.
In June, Creative Roots will host two free, LGBTQ+ events. On June 7 at 4 PM, the LGBTQ+ Art and Poetry Night will celebrate the hidden art within the LGBTQ+ community, featuring 12 local queer artists, speakers, authors, and poets. Attendees are invited to view and purchase original works, share personal stories, poems, or songs, and enjoy live music, snacks, and shopping in a vibrant, inclusive setting.
On June 21 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, they will host the Summer Solstice Festival and Drag Bingo. This celebration includes Drag Bingo hosted by King Katya, live music by Clay and Markie, solstice-themed caricatures by Love Romero, tarot readings, delicious food and beverages, raffles, and more.
