Summer is coming to a close and we're easing into fall festival season in Lake Charles! This September is packed with things to do including the return of popular fall festivals and events like the Cal Cam Fair, the Southcoast Book Festival, and the McNeese State University Cowboy Block Parties.

Cal-Cam Fair | September 4-6

The annual Cal Cam Fair returns for it's 104th anniversary this month. The festival celebrations begin with the annual Little Miss and Teen Cal-Cam Fair pageant where young women from Calcasieu and Cameron parishes compete to represent Southwest Louisiana at festivals throughout the region. 

Additional festival highlights include the Miss Cal-Cam Fair Pageant, live entertainment featuring regional bands, popular amusement rides and delicious carnival bites as well as exciting competitions like the Invitational Bull Fight and Mutton Bustin'.

 

White Linen Night | September 12

Get ready to don your best white linen ensemble and head to Downtown Lake Charles for an elegant evening of art, music, and mingling at White Linen Night: A Downtown Gallery Promenade.

Browse local galleries, enjoy live art demonstrations, and sip a cocktail while supporting the local art scene and the Arts and Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana.

 

 

South Coast Book Festival | September 12

Calling all readers! The largest book event in Southwest Louisiana returns to the Lake Charles Event Center this month. The South Coast Book Festival is packed with exciting activities.

From bookish magic at the KidZone and book signings with regional authors to storytelling and crafting sessions, this free festival is a celebration of creativity and imagination.

 

International Culture Festival | September 19

The International Culture Festival is a celebration of global heritage and community spirit. Enlighten yourself to diverse cultures through live performances and international dances, global cuisine, and traditional attire displays at this free, family-friendly festival at the Lake Charles Event Center.

 

Annual Fly-In vs. Cruise-In | September 26

Spend an exciting afternoon at the DeQuincy Industrial Airpark for the Annual Fly In vs. Cruise In, a free festival packed with activities for the whole family. Explore planes and train cars, browse vehicles during the classic car show, hop on a train ride and more all leading up to Movies Under the Stars at sunset.

McNeese Cowboy Block Party | September 4, 11, 25

Celebrate the pokes and another McNeese State University's home football game at the Cowboy Block Party! Grab your crew, don your blue and gold, and dance the night away with The Flamethrowers, The Chee Weez, and Dustin Sonnier live in the Townsley Law Arena.

Every Friday before a home game head to the Robert Noland Alumni Pavilion for a free open air concert featuring regional performers and a ton of Poke pride!

 

McNeese Football Home Games | September 5, 12, 26

Grab your blue and gold gear and head to Navarre Stadium for McNeese State University's upcoming home games against Texas Wesleyan, Tarleton State, and East Texas A&M!
