Summer is coming to an end and we're gearing up for fall festival season in Lake Charles! This September is packed with things to do including the return of popular fall festivals and events like the Cal Cam Fair, the Southcoast Book Festival, the Louisiana Food and Wine Festival, and the McNeese State University Cowboy Block Party. Get ready for electrifying concerts, hilarious comedy shows, and incredible live performances at venues throughout the region in our top ways to play!

Cal-Cam Fair | September 4-7

The annual Cal Cam Fair returns for it's 103rd anniversary this month. The festival celebrations begin with the annual Little Miss and Teen Cal-Cam Fair pageant where young women from Calcasieu and Cameron parishes compete to represent Southwest Louisiana at festivals throughout the region. 

Additional festival highlights include the Miss Cal-Cam Fair Pageant, live entertainment featuring regional bands, popular amusement rides and delicious carnival bites as well as exciting competitions like Cal-Cam's Got Talent, the Invitational Bull Fight and Mutton Bustin'. Don't miss the new addition to the line-up-Cal Cam's Got Talent Kids Rule, a talent showcase for young festival-goers.

 

South Coast Book Festival | September 13

Calling all readers! The largest book event in Southwest Louisiana returns to the Lake Charles Event Center this month. The South Coast Book Festival is packed with exciting activities. From pajama story time at the KidZone and book signings with regional authors to storytelling and crafting sessions, this free festival is a celebration of creativity and imagination.

 

Louisiana Food and Wine Festival | September 18-21

The much-anticipated culinary extravaganza, the Louisiana Food and Wine Festival returns with five events boasting mouthwatering flavors, talented local and regional chefs, and delicious wines and spirits. On Thursday, treat yourself to an exclusive culinary competition with bites carefully crafted by the region's best chefs and personalities.

On Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, dive into delicious samples from local and celebrity chefs, grill masters, and proprietors serving up unlimited food, wine, beer, and spirits—all while enjoying the toe-tapping sounds of Geno Delafosse and the Rockin' Soul.

The festival may end on Sunday, but the party doesn't stop! The lively Jazz Brunch is the grand finale, with two spreads of unlimited beverages, a luxurious brunch menu, carving stations, and a Bloody Mary Bar to top it off!

 

Annual Fly-In vs. Cruise-In | September 27

Spend an exciting afternoon at the DeQuincy Industrial Airpark for the Annual Fly In vs. Cruise In, a free festival packed with activities for the whole family. Explore planes and train cars, browse vehicles during the classic car show, hop on a train ride and more all leading up to Movies Under the Stars at sunset.

American Cornhole Organization Tournament | September 5-6

The much anticipated celebration of the popular lawn game, cornhole, returns to the Lake Charles Event Center. The American Cornhole Tournament showcases talented tossers from across the country in various divisions all vying for the cornhole championship title.

 

McNeese vs. Weber State | September 13

Grab your blue and gold gear and head to Navarre Stadium for McNeese State University's second home game of the season against Weber State! LAPL Fishing Tournament | September 18

Spend an exciting day on the waters of Calcasieu Lake at the annual LAPL Fishing Tournament. Gather with other fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts at the Calcutta Social held at Mazen's on Thursday evening. Then on Friday, beat the sunrise with a 5 AM launch at Calcasieu Point

 

Ragin Fighting Championship | September 20

Whether you're an MMA fanatic or new to the action, the Ragin Fighting Championship guarantees a night of excitement and friendly competition. Mixed Martial Arts athletes from across the state will hit the octagon at the Lake Charles Event Center for an unforgettable showcase of athleticism and grit.
