Summer means one thing in Southwest Louisiana: softball and baseball. Here, diamonds aren’t just a girl's best friend, they’re everybody's. SWLA visitors and locals hold their diamond sports close to their hearts, and we’re becoming an epicenter of the baseball and softball world.

Gumbeaux Gators

The Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators return to the diamond this summer for their third season as Southwest Louisiana’s hometown team. Baseball fans won't want to miss the home opener on June 2 at Joe Miller Ballpark, featuring free admission courtesy of Mosquito Authority. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.

Throughout the summer, the Gumbeaux Gators will bring exciting collegiate baseball action to Lake Charles, along with themed game nights, special promotions, and family-friendly entertainment. Their promotional schedule is what sets them apart, though. Enjoy family-friendly fun with themed nights every week, including 2-for-1 beers on Thursdays, fireworks on Fridays, $2 Tuesdays ($2 hot dogs, $2 popcorn, and more), and plenty of other promotions throughout the season. For tickets, the full promotional schedule, and more information, visit www.gumbeauxgators.com. The Gators will play 11 home games this month, so there's plenty opportunity to get your krewe to the field!

The Gumbeaux Gators compete in the Texas Collegiate League alongside seven teams from across Texas and Louisiana. The league showcases top collegiate talent from around the country, with players spending their summers competing at a high level while representing communities throughout the region.
