Summer means one thing in Southwest Louisiana now, and it’s baseball. Here, diamonds aren’t just a girl's best friend, they’re everybody's. SWLA visitors and locals hold their diamond sports close to their hearts, and we’re becoming an epicenter of the baseball world.
The Lake Charles Gumbeaux Gators will host their first-ever home game, as part of their 2024 inaugural season, on Tuesday, June 4th at 7 PM at Joe Miller Baseball Field at McNeese. The Gumbeaux Gators are a part of the Texas Collegiate League, with 5 other teams playing across Texas and Louisiana. The league comprises college baseball players from all over the country, traveling to their team’s city for the summer to play ball.
The Gators kicked off the season on the road, battling the Baton Rouge Rougarou on May 30th and 31st, then to the Brazos Valley on June 1st and 2nd against the Brazos Valley Bombers. To make things even sweeter, the Gators' opening night is free for all, graciously sponsored by Navarre Auto Group. Bring the family and get your friends out there for a heck of a time, with in-game entertainment, giveaways, and more to be seen in person!
